Some photo sessions come together smoothly… and then there are sessions like this one—where everything just happens to fall into place at the right time.

This beautiful extended family of 24 gathered on a July evening at The Retreat at Turnberry Park in Pickerington to celebrate an incredible milestone: 50 years of marriage for their parents and grandparents. The session itself was a gift from their five adult children with their spouses and families—an unforgettable way to honor a legacy that has grown into something truly amazing.

And honestly, the biggest miracle of the evening might not have just been the golden light or the pretty setting… it was getting 24 people, across six BUSY families, all in the same place, at the same time, and having the weather cooperate. That’s the kind of coordination that deserves its own award. I’m pretty sure if we tried to schedule it again, it would take another 50 years.

The park itself was the perfect choice. Quiet, peaceful, and not overly busy, it made working with a large group feel easy and stress-free. One of the best features of this location is the beautiful, uniform tree line of sycamores, which creates a clean, timeless background—ideal for extended family sessions. We were able to move between spots quickly without a lot of walking, which everyone appreciated (especially in the summer warmth).

At the center of it all were the grandparents, celebrating 50 years of marriage surrounded by the family they’ve built. Their five adult children stood alongside their spouses, and together they’ve raised twelve grandchildren who brought so much personality and energy to the session. From the youngest to the oldest, every single person added something special to the evening.

Despite the size of the group (and the summer heat), everything came together beautifully. From the full extended family portraits to smaller groupings, it all flowed smoothly—and yes, we even managed those moments where everyone is looking at the camera at the same time, which is no small feat with a group this size.

Sessions like this are what family photography is all about. These images aren’t just pictures—they’re a celebration of a life built together, a milestone worth honoring, and memories that will be cherished for generations.
