The W Family | Dublin Ohio Photographer

Before this session, I mostly knew Coffman Park as “that place where the Dublin Irish Festival happens.” Turns out, it’s also a really great spot for family photos—especially in the fall.  I can thank this family for recommending it!

We met there in early November on one of those classic Ohio evenings: overcast, a little gloomy, and very windy. Not the kind of weather that sounds amazing on paper, but honestly, it worked. The muted light kept things soft, and the wind added just enough movement to keep everyone awake and slightly on their toes.

Coffman Park has these historic barns and buildings that give it a lot of character, which makes it ideal for fall family sessions. You get that rustic backdrop without having to drive out to the middle of nowhere, and it pairs really well with November tones.

This family of five made the whole session easy. Mom and dad were relaxed, and their three beautiful kids were all genuinely fun to work with. Cute, polite, and (this is the important part) willing to go along with things, even when the wind had other plans.

The girls brought plenty of personality, especially the two-year-old, who kept things unpredictable in the way two-year-olds do. But the real MVP might have been big brother. He was incredibly sweet with his sisters, quick to help, and clearly took his role seriously—without making it feel like a job. Those little interactions between them ended up being some of the best moments of the session.

There was a lot of movement—walking, twirling, occasional hair adjustments thanks to the wind—but that actually helped keep things natural. Nobody was stuck standing still for too long, which is usually when kids decide they’re done cooperating. Instead, it felt more like they were just hanging out together while I happened to be there with a camera.

For a park I hadn’t used before, Coffman definitely delivered. Between the setting, the family, and a little bit of unpredictable weather, it turned into one of those sessions where everything just works—even if you’re mentally preparing for wind-blown hair the entire time.

Fall family photography in the Columbus area doesn’t always need perfect sunshine to be successful. Sometimes a cloudy sky, a breezy evening, and a really great family are more than enough.
