Senior sessions are usually pretty straightforward—show up, find some good light, and try not to overthink it. But this one ended up being a little more personal than most. My nephew Logan—Class of 2026—is now a high school senior which doesn’t seem possible considering it seems like he was just a little boy.
We started his session at Dillon State Park on a really beautiful November evening. It’s one of those places that already feels peaceful on its own, but for our family, it means a little more. His grandpa—my father-in-law—spent a lot of time there fishing, walking, and just being outdoors. So walking those same paths with Logan added a layer to the session that you can’t really plan for. It wasn’t just about senior photos—it was about being in a place tied to a lot of good memories.
Logan made it easy. Laid-back, cooperative, and willing to go along with whatever I suggested (which is really all you can ask for in a senior guy). The setting did its part too—calm water, late fall colors, and that soft evening light that makes everything look just a little better.
For the second half of the session, we headed over to Bishop Rosecrans High School to get a few photos around the entrance to the football field. That part was planned but then we saw that the actual field looked open… and after a quick “should we?” moment, realized it actually was unlocked.
So naturally, we went in.
In our defense, this is a close-knit school community, and I think it was pretty clear we weren’t there to cause any problems—just a football player senior, his mom, his aunt, and a camera trying to grab a few photos before the light disappeared. Honestly, it ended up being one of the best parts of the session. A little unexpected, a little funny, and definitely memorable.
Between the two locations, we were able to capture a really well-rounded set of images—some meaningful, some relaxed, and a few that came from just being in the right place at the right time (with an unlocked gate).
It’s hard to wrap your head around how fast it goes. One minute you’re taking pictures of him as a one-year-old (I had to include one of these too!), and the next you’re photographing their senior session. But here we are.
I’m so glad we were able to do this for Logan, especially in places that mean something to our family. Wishing him nothing but the best as he heads toward graduation and whatever comes next.
